The Vintages, McMinnville, Oregon.

Vitages Blog post images_-9I came across The Vintages while doing my pre-trip research of the Willamette valley wine region. I got so excited about the whole resort, even though it is technically a trailer park! I have visions of one day owning my very own airstream and this park was about to make that dream a reality, if only for a few nights. I went down the rabbit hole on the offical website which showcases each trailer in detail. These are luxurious stays! We had fluffy terrycloth robes, soft hotel bedding with a wicked mattress, separate pool towels along with a cute tote to carry our things back and forth from our trailer to the pool; and it even had a games area! They provided gourmet pour over coffee and kitsch 50’s and 60’s touches through and through, not to mention air conditioning and cable TV! Each trailer has its own BBQ, complete with adorandak chairs and sun umbrella, because it’s damn HOT in the Willamet valley. But the best feature is probably the complimentary cruiser bikes. These were so handy and fun to cruise around the resort on a warm breezy evening, or to pop into the general store for some chilled wine and nibbles.

Vitages Blog post images_-10Vitages Blog post images_-11Our morning consisted of gourmet coffee and nice morning dog walks to the little off leash park beside the Vintages. We would then hop in the car and head out to the wineries. Our favourite winery was without a doubt Stoller. All the wines are very good, but we especially enjoyed the rose, which isn’t a usual go to wine for us. The grounds at the winery are expansive and beautiful. They allowed our dog to come hang out during the tasting and later on the patio which is always appreciated. There were families playing lawn games and overall it had a very nice feel. The food menu looked very appetizing, but it was a little too early for us…wine before lunch! Priorities people. Vitages Blog post images_-4IMG_2339

We decided to have lunch at a place that was recommended to us by one of the women serving wine at Stoller. It was a gorgeous Italian style restaurant, The Dundee Bistro, with an attached fine food and wine bar market. The food, when it finally arrived was very good, but the service wasn’t. Perhaps it was an off day, we carried on to one more winery which I realize has since shut it’s doors. So I can’t recommend it but there are so many to chose from in the area! By that point we were so hot and wanted to get Jack into some air conditioning and us into the pool! Back to The Vintages to cool off and make some delicious food on our BBQ. The great thing about the Vintages is that you actually want to hang out at your trailer. This is what makes it special. We saw several families traveling together, they each had there own trailers and the kids would play in the street in between the trailers, on pinot noir road no less 🙂Vitages Blog post images_-8At night the resort becomes enchanted with the retro round lamp posts and twinkle light adorning the tree’s. Once it was dark we biked over to the awesome communal fire pit area. They had cool tunes playing and plenty of seating areas where you could choose to either be social or private. You can buy a smores kits at the park’s general store if you are aiming for a that authentic glamping experience.

Vitages Blog post images_-16Vitages Blog post images_The next day we explored the heritage town of McMinnville which is so lovely. They have excellent wine bars that offer happy hour specials. I recommend checking them out, the servers are very knowledgeable and we got a chance to try out some really great wines from different winery’s all in one, air-conditioned place.

These are the two places we went too:

1.Willamette Valley Vineyards McMinnville tasting room, this a beautiful and bright space with comfortable leather couches. They have a wonderful certified sustainable wine selection too.

2. Pinot Vista tasting room, they have a loft like space with a solid selection of local wines and beer on tap. Great happy hour everyday of the week 4 to 6pm.

For lunch we chose a spanish tapas restaurant called La Rambla. It was very good authentic Spanish food, solid wine menu and nice decor. There is a natural grocery store in town where we stocked up for our dinner, Harvest Fresh Grocery & Deli, they offer a selection of non medicated meats and organic veggies. We headed back to the Vintages for the rest of the day.

My wish of staying in an airstream was ultimately denied as they only allow dog’s in their Shasta’s. But honestly, I loved it! I did get to check out one of the airstreams and felt we hadn’t missed out at all. Each trailer is unique and they book up well in advance so plan ahead. All in all it was a very memorable experience and one I’d for sure want to do again. Check out the video for the interior tour of the trailer!
